The Long Lasting Intimacy of Strangers continues the collaboration between JBE Books and THE PILL by capturing what has been happening in the gallery since 2022: bodies in motion, unstable geographies, identities being redefined. The book explores these physical, symbolic, and technological shifts that are reshaping the way we inhabit the world. Here, the body becomes a country, a plural territory, sometimes augmented, sometimes reconstructed; and the gallery becomes a kind of prosthesis: a space where we stand upright, where we invent new ways of being together.
With texts by Asli Seven and an afterword by Suela Cennet, the book brings together eighteen artists whose works trace a history of art in the making: sensitive, fragmented, traversed by flows. A history in which encounters, even fleeting, even distant, leave lasting traces.
